In the run-up to the match, the club paid a spectacular tribute to around 150 former players who had worn the yellow shirt during different eras. All of them were photographed with the president Fernando Roig -who was one of the main figures of the preview on the Estadio de la Cerámica pitch-, divided by decades at first and in a large family photo afterwards.

Afterwards, the 24 players who would play in the Legends’ Match retired to the tunnel and one by one they came out onto the pitch to a spectacular presentation and a standing ovation from the crowd. When they had all taken to the pitch at La Cerámica, they stood for a team photo with the president and the coach Benito Floro.

The results of the voting for Villarreal’s historic XI and the best goal of the club’s history as voted for by fans was announced during half-time. The winners who were present received a commemorative ceramic Submarine from president Fernando Roig and those who were unable to attend the Estadio de la Cerámica sent a video thanking the fans for their support.

Finally, Pau Torres was awarded the gold insignia from the hands of president Fernando Roig, which commemorates the player from Villarreal as the flagship player of Villarreal CF. An unforgettable event.
