The athletes sponsored by Villarreal CF, within the Endavant Esports project, who are participating in the Olympic Games are working hard for the best results. In the last few days the performance of Yidiel Contreras stands out, as he qualified for the Semi-finals. Bruno Hortelano will compete today in the 200m, while Concha Montaner and Julia Takacs have not started competing yet.
Yidiel Contreras into the Semi-finals
The ‘Playas de Castellón’ athlete, Yidiel Contreras, achieved the minimal requirement in the preliminaries to go through to the 110m hurdles Semi-final. The athlete will compete today in search of a place in the long-awaited Final.
Frank Casañas and Lois Maikel, in the Top 30
The discus throwers, sponsored by Villarreal CF, have finished their journey at the Olympic Games, both finishing within the Top 30. Frank Casañas finished twenty fifth with 59.96 metres, while his teammate Lois Maikel threw 59.42 metres and finished in twenty seventh place.
Patricia Sarrapio out with a jump of 13.36 metres
Jumper Patricia Sarrapio (triple jump) finished her time at the Olympic Games with a jump of 13.36 metres, a distance which did not qualify her for the next round.
Daniel Andújar very close to the next round
The middle distance runner Danién Andújar, who competes in the 800m, did not make it to the Semi-finals of the Games, but came very close after finishing in third place in the preliminaries. The athlete ran a time of 1:48.50.
Roberto Bautista was on the doorstep of fighting for the medals
Tennis player Roberto Bautista came very close to winning a medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The Castellón native lost to Argentine Del Potro, in two very close sets (7-5 and 7-6). In the end, Del Potro won the silver medal after losing the Final to Andy Murray.
Pablo Herrera falls in the Round fo 16
The beach volleyball player Pablo Herrera, together with his teammate Adrián Gavira, were knocked out by tournament hosts, the Brazilian pair Cerutti y Schmidt (current World Champions) by 24-22 and 21-13.
Pablo Torrijos, eliminated after jumping 16.11 metres
Pablo Torrijos competed in the Group B qualifying round to try to get through to the Finals of the triple jump. The Castellón native made his Olympic debut with a jump of 15.78 metres. His best score of the day (16.11 metres) was not sufficient to earn him a spot in the Final however.
