Unai Emery underlined that the team had various chances to win the match despite the game being tight
Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media to analyse the draw against RCD Espanyol (0-0). The Basque manager recognised that the draw was a fair result, but it was not enough for the Yellow’s aspirations: “The draw is the fairest result for what happened on the pitch, but it leaves us dissatisfied. We wanted to win and it wasn’t possible.”
The Yellows head coach emphasised that, despite the game being close, the Submarine had their chances to take the three points. “We had some chances to win, but they also had their moments too. We tried to dominate the game through having the ball, and we came up against an Espanyol side that compete well, that have good defensive positioning and are strong in individual duels.”
To conclude, Emery underlined that the team will need to continue working hard to taste victory: “We’ve seen some very positive things from the team, but we still need to improve on various aspects to be more competitive.”
