The club’s official charity calendar for 2020 is available in official club stores for just 5 Euros
Vilarreal CF has decided to back the fight of ‘Izan, the small hero’, by creating a spectacular charity calendar which can be bought in the official stores for just 5 Euros. Izan is a youngster from Vall d’Uixò, who was born with a rare illness that still hasn’t been diagnosed. His parents, Noelia and Juan, every day try and make his case more visible and to find the best way of getting effective treatment for their son.
All money raised will go to the ‘Izan, el pequeño gran héroe’ (Izan, the small hero) charity, to find a diagnosis for his rare illness.
The photo session took place on the Estadio de la Cerámica pitch. Izan was photographed alongside players and coaches from the Yellow Submarine. An unforgettable day not only for him, but for the professionals too.
Izan was born on 1st December 2014. Aged five, he still doesn’t speak and struggles to walk. He cannot eat by himself, he wears a nappy and doesn’t imitate gestures or sounds, needing someone at his side 24 hours a day. Currently, Izan has a cognitive level of a baby aged between nine months a year.
Izan’s parents are not only fighting to get a diagnosis for their child, but also for children with special needs and disabilities, so they’re not left needing anything, regardless of the family they come from.
There is hope. In recent tests at Sant Joan de Déu, doctors found a mutation in the SPTBN2 gene, which could be the cause of the illness. Everyone is with Izan! To find out more, visit the following link: ‘Izan, el pequeño gran héroe’.
