Unai Emery hopes his side can continue their good form against a dangerous Cádiz side

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery underlined this lunchtime that his team are facing a passionate and different challenge this weekend. The Submarine will try and continue their good form against a very dangerous Cádiz side (Sunday, 4:15pm CET, Estadio de la Cerámica). “Every game at this stage of LaLiga is a challenge, even more seeing the form of the other sides and how things are. We are trying to differentiate between the league and Europe, but we are trying to unite the god things. Cádiz will be a challenge after not winning at home for a lot of games. We haven’t lost many, but we have drawn a lot, so it’s clear what we need to do. Three points are the aim. There are decisive moments in a season, and we’re going into the head of the game needing them. Our challenge is to do something different to what we have been doing until now,” he said.

Villarreal go into the game after beating Eibar and Dynamo Kyiv, with the latter over two games. Three wins in a row which have strengthened the group’s morale: “In terms of how we are playing, we are optimistic. We can see that the team is doing certain things well again, and we hope to be able to do things that we haven’t done so more, and even go beyond that at home to change what has been happening so far. Infection points are the present. We won convincingly in Vigo and then the bad run started. This does not stop, so we need to be demanding of ourselves against Cádiz, and it is a challenge to be able to do something different to what we have done up to this point, so that we can get the win. I want to see something different, and to see if with that, we turn things around,” analysed Emery.”

For the Basque manager, overcoming Cádiz will not be easy at all: “We speak about patience when we rush, and sometimes about being more urgent when we are too patient. Cádiz dominate games, they dominate basic football, sometimes that is difficult. They are very strong defensively, and very competitive in spaces and looking for opportunities to create dangerous goalscoring opportunities. They are capable of finding spaces, and it is not easy to beat them. We will need to be patient and know how to hurt them when we have the opportunity to do so. They are very good at what they want to play, and they have veteran players who know how to compete very well.”

To conclude, Emery spoke about the UEFA League quarter-final draw. Villarreal will face RNK Dinamo Zagreb: “We put in a good performance against Dynamo Kyiv and because of that, we got through to the next round. Now, we’ll face Dinamo Zagreb, who have just knocked out Tottenham. At this stage of the competition, no-one will gift you anything and every team is there on their own merits. We are all very excited, but we know it will be tough.”
