The most representative clubs of football in the Region of Valencia have joined the Armed Forces’ scheme

Football in the Region of Valencia has shown its charitable nature with the EUTM-Somalia project. Villarreal CF, Valencia CF, Levante UD, Elche CF, CD Castellón and Hércules CF have collaborated with the campaign for sporting development being carried out by the Spanish contingent in the Somalian city of Mogadishu. The clubs have donated material and sporting material, which will be handed out in schools in the area and to young Somalian athletes.

The ceremony for handing over the material, which took place in the Defence Delegation in Valencia, saw the presence of various members of the Valencian Football Federation (Federación de Fútbol de la Comunitat Valenciana), as well as that of various members from sporting entities who were involved in this project. Representing Villarreal CF were CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles, and Marcos Senna, Institutional Relations Department member.

EUTM-S’s main aim is to strengthen federal Somalian defence institutions, but as is also now common in this sort of international missions, it is also committed in a civilian co-operation project, which hopes to create spaces where young Somalis can develop through a world-known sport, such as football.
