The Villarreal U12, U14, U16 and U19 teams came out on top at the tournament
Villarreal CF had a great weekend at the Costa Girona Cup with a total of four Yellows Academy sides crowned champions of the tournament played at the natural grass facility Soccerland Catalunya, located on the Costa Brava.
The U12s, U14s, U16s and U19s got their hands on the #CostaGironaCup21 trophy. The Yellows were also runners-up in the U16 age group and third in the U8 age group. What’s more, players Jorge Zarceño (U12s) and Fernando Cabedo (U14s) were named tournament MVPs.
With regards to the selected teams by Endeka Sports, Gerard Moreno’s team finished second in the U8s and U19s age groups. In the latter, Piotrek Urbanski was named tournament MVP. Pau Torres’ team also finished in third place.
The 2021 edition of the Costa Girona Cup was organised by Villarreal CF and Endeka Sports. The international football tournament brought together more than 1250 players from a total of 60 participating team. Among them, two teams came from the United States, International Prospect Academy and Massachusetts Rush, as well as two academy from the Valencian Community, Football Training Academy 380º and SIA Academy. Several teams from Catalonia also participated in the tournament, such as Ribetana FC, CD Tortosa, Fundació Marcet, AE Foc, CE Sabadell FC and CE Mercantil.
