COMPETITION STRUCTURE

QUALIFICATION  FROM THE GROUP STAGES

The first four teams in each group will qualify for the Round of 16 (one will be eliminated) and then the first place teams will play against those in fourth place, and second place against third place. The teams who qualify from Group A will face teams from Group B, likewise teams who qualify from Group C will play against teams from Group D. The qualification system from the First Phase of the competition is in compliance with the current regulations established by the Spanish Football Federation (Real Federación Española de Fútbol), which are the following:

If the competition involves only one leg, those teams tied on points in the final standings (of each group), between two or more teams, will be resolved considering:

  • The greatest goal difference between goals for and goals against, taking into account all matches from the tournament so far (First Phase).
  • The greatest number of goals scored, taking into account all matches from the tournament so far.
  • The results of the matches played between the teams involved in the tie.
  • If still tied, by means of a coin toss.

DRAWS AND OVERTIMES. FINAL PHASE

To resolve possible draws from the Round of 16 matches, a best-of-3 penalty shootout will take place. If the draw persists, the shootout will continue until team scores one goal more than the other.

FINAL MATCH

If at the end of the FINAL the score is a draw, extra time will be played (5 minutes). If the extra time period also finishes in a draw a penalty shootout will take place, as described in the previous point.

DURATION OF THE MATCHES

Subject to the availability of TV broadcast time, the duration of the matches of this competition will be as follows:

  • FIRST PHASE: Two halves of twelve (12) minutes and a three (3) minute half-time.
