Javi Calleja praises his side’s work and celebrates the win at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, which he recognised as a tough place to visit
Villarreal manager Javi Calleja appeared in front of the press to analyse the Submarine’s win over Sevilla. The Yellows head coach was satisfied wth the win and his players’ hard work: “We did a really goob job at a tough ground. We knew how to interpret every part of the game. We also knew how to dig in, how to defend, and how to hurt them when necessary. This win is really important for our morale.”
What’s more, Calleja praised the Submarine’s improvement in recent games, which culminated in a great win at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuan: “It was a victory that we’ve deserved for a while. We’ve competed well in recent matches, showing what’s necessary to get more points. At no point did we lose faith in our daily work. Today we showed that Villarreal can beat anyone.”
Finally, the Submarine boss highlighted his team’s intelligence in crucial moments of the game: “We kept our concentration throughout, playing astutely. That was key to the win.”
