Villarreal B pick up a point on their first away trip of 2026
Sevilla Atlético and Villarreal B shared the points in the match corresponding to Matchday 19 in Group 2 of Primera Federación, played at the Estadio Jesús Navas. A first half marked by Villarreal B’s superiority, which David Albelda’s side were unable to convert into goals, and a second period in which both teams were solid but lacked attacking clarity, ended in a goalless draw that sees the Yellows take a point from their first away fixture of 2026.
Villarreal B dominated the early stages of the contest. In control of possession, the Yellows created as many as three clear chances in the opening seven minutes: a shot from the edge of the area by Pablo Pascual that was deflected for a corner, an effort by Viveros inside the box after a fine pass from Diatta and the clearest opportunity of all, a close range attempt from Álex Rubio that flew just over the Sevilla goal.
Sevilla Atlético were uncomfortable on the Estadio Jesús Navas pitch, largely due to Villarreal B’s intense pressing, which made it difficult for the home side to play out from the back. David Albelda’s men went close again in the 33rd minute from a set piece, when Víctor Moreno’s corner was met by Diatta, who rose highest to head narrowly wide of the post.
The home side began to venture forward shortly before the break. Isra tested Rubén Gómez with a low shot after a good individual move, but the goalkeeper from Alzira reacted well to keep the effort out.
At half time, the score remained goalless at the Estadio Jesús Navas.
The second half produced few clear chances for either team. Intensity in the duels defined a period in which both sides struggled to raise the tempo and find a decisive breakthrough.
The first real chance for Villarreal B after the restart arrived in the 68th minute. Alassane Diatta tried his luck with a powerful effort that was slightly too central and was gathered in two stages by Alberto F.
In the final stages, David Albelda looked to freshen things up in search of a winning goal. Albert García, Arnau Forés, Cheikh and José Gaitán were introduced to add impetus to a Villarreal B side that were still searching for a breakthrough.
In the end, neither team managed to find the net and Sevilla FC B and Villarreal CF B shared the points at the Estadio Jesús Navas. With this draw, Albelda’s side move provisionally into eighth place with 25 points.
Villarreal B will be back in action on Friday 16th January, when they face Cartagena at 7.30pm CET at the Mini Estadi of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground, in the match corresponding to matchday 20 of Primera Federación.
