The Villarreal Women head coach underlined that the Yellows are confident and in a good moment

Villarreal Women head coach Sara Monforte appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming game against Deportivo Alavés at the José Luis Compañón (Saturday, 5pm CEST).

A sweet start to the season

“The international break was good for us. We went into it after a win against SD Eibar (1-0). The team has trained well this week. We’re motivated and really keen. We have four out of a possible six points, and we’re feeling positive.”

Confident ahead of Deportivo Alavés

“We’re confident heading to Vitoria. The team will compete against Alavés. We’re convinced that we can go head to head with a team, who, despite being a newly-promoted team like us, have won their first two league games.”

A hard-working side with good numbers

“Deportivo Alavés are a team with important and experienced players in Primera División. They’re continuing in the same line from last season, where they were promoted. It will be a quick match, with a high tempo. They’re two teams that have a lot in common. They know how to play with possession, but they also are good on the counter. They have quick players. They’re a strong team. We will try and fight and get something positive from a tough ground.”

Key moments from the game

“We have to be very focused. Especially in their quick transitions with the ball. They have a lot of goalscoring danger and we need to be switched on. We want the game to be alive in the closing moments. We need to be in the game until the final whistle. The players who come off the bench could be crucial to change the outcome of the tie.”

Rotations ahead of the busy fixture calendar

“We have three games in eight days. We will share the minutes and we will give opportunities to a number of players, always trying to have the best options to win each game. We need to analyse the games well and chose carefully the starting XI for each training session.”
