Bands from across the province of Castellón can now apply to take part in Villarreal CF’s musical contest
The second edition of Groc Talent is now here! Villarreal CF and SanSan Festival have opened registration for artists and groups from the province of Castellón to participate in the competition, with the winning prize of performing in the prestigious musical event which takes part yearly in Benicàssim.
After the recent win of Red Smoke, also known as Bad Ideas, in the first edition of the musical contest, the Yellows, through the Endavant Cultura initiative, is once more calling on the best musical talent in our province to take part in this important competition which tries to give a stage to and discover emerging bands from the province of Castellón.
To sign up, bands need to fill in a simple FORM, where they need to write the name of the artists/group, a small biography, a photograph of the artist/group, a contact number, an e-mail address, a link to three songs by the artist/group (Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud or Bandcamp), and whenever possible, a YouTube video so fans can get a preview of the artist.
The registration period for the competition will be open until Sunday 3rd October at 23:59pm CEST. A professional jury will choose the ten participants from all those who sign up. They will have the chance to perform in front of thousands of people at the Estadio de la Cerámica Fan Zone in the build-up to Villarreal CF league games between 8th November and 20th March.
After 21st March, Villarreal CF will have the final, where the three groups/artists with most votes after their performances at the stadium (date and location TBC).
To take part in Groc Talent, participants need to live in the province of Castellón, be 16 or over, should at least one of the members be 18 or over. A set of at least 45 minutes of original content that aligns with the musical style of SanSan Festival is also necessary, with the festival backing indie, pop, rock and alternative music.
Competition stages and voting
Once the registration period is over, Villarreal CF and SanSan Festival will evaluate the entries and reveal the participating artists and bands before Friday 15th October 2021.
The ten selected acts will perform at the Estadio de la Cerámica Fan Zone before each matchday. The day of the performance will depend on the oficial LaLiga schedule and will be communicated with at least ten days of notice. The planned days at the moment are: 7th November, 28th November, 12th December, 2nd January, 9th January, 23rd January, 13th February, 27th February and 13th March.
The Monday after every performance, from 12pm, the voting will open, which will last until the following Monday at the same time. Yellows fans can vote on the official website (www.villarrealcf.es/fans/groc-talent), rating the performance from 1 to 5 (with 1 being the lowest rating and 5 the highest.
Once the performances have taken place, the three groups with the most votes will go to the final. The calculation of the votes will be the public votes, those of Villarreal CF and those of the SanSan management.
The final, with date and location still to be confirmed, will take place between 21st and 27th March 2022. A professional jury will decide the winner, who will take place in the eighth edition of the SanSan Festival in Benicàssim.
