Miguel Álvarez expects a hard-fought match against Ponferradina this Wednesday at 2pm CEST at the Mini Estadi
Villarreal B hea coach Miguel Álvarez spoke to the media at the press conference ahead of the match against SD Ponferradina, corresponding to Matchday 10 of LaLiga SmartBank, which will take place tomorrow at 2pm CEST, at the Mini Estadi at the Villarreal CF Training Ground. The Mini Submarine coach is looking forward to continuing the positive dynamic at home, but has assured that it won’t be easy to get the three points.
“We’re being visited by a team who are performing better away than at home. They have great potential and, personally, they are one of the teams I like the most for their approach to the game. They also have people with experience in the division, but also a lot of nerve and quality”, said Álvarez about the team coached by José Gomes and added that his team will try to play as they have done so far at home, with a high level of football that will allow them to compete for the victory.
Despite the defeat in their last game in Gijón, the Yellows will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run at the Mini Estadi. “So far there are two versions of us. One at home and the other away from home. We are on the way to continue working to be more competitive away from home, but we don’t have the necessary continuity away from home and, on several occasions, we are being penalised in the first few minutes,” he added about his team’s performance in the domestic competition so far.
Miguel Álvarez was also asked about injuries, something that has been hampering the B team at the start of the current campaign. However, he was positive about the situation: “We are speeding up the process of a lot of youngsters from below who are constantly making their debuts and we are very satisfied with them. We can’t complain. We have a lot of absentees, but we have to compete with what we have.”
Finally, the Mini Submarino coach announced the return of Álex Forés – injured since last season – to the squad: “Álex will be back in the squad, although he’s not ready to play more than ten or 15 minutes. He wants to be there and we think we have to listen to him.”
