The Villarreal players connected to a video call to have a good chat with the fourth-grade students
The defender from Córdoba, Alfonso Pedraza, and the Argentine midfielder, Mariela Coronel, took part in a videocall with the students of the CEIP Cervantes school in Vila-real. The fourth-grade, primary school students were able to quench their curiosity, asking the two players an endless number of fun questions about their careers in an extended online chat.
A new way of socialising in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic
Villarreal have been innovative in times of adversity, coming up with a new, virtual format for the “A Star in Your School” programme. Through the Endavant Club Groguet programme, the club has connected some of the youngest fans throughout the province with some of the leading stars at the club, in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Up to now, as well as Alfonso Pedraza and Mariela Coronel talking to students at CEIP Cervantes in Vila-Real, players such as Fer Niño (CEIP Botànic Calduch in Vila-real), Sergio Asenjo (CEIP Don José Alba in La Vilavella), Jaume Costa (CEIP Lluís Tena in Sant Jordi) and Raúl Albiol and Elena de Toro (CEIP Lluís Vives in Xilxes) have participated in the programme this season. And, players from the Villarreal men’s and women’s first teams will continue to participate in video calls in more schools across the region, for the children to enjoy.
It’s also worth remembering that, aside from the virtual talks, the schools are invited to take part in a free training session, ran by coaches from the club, as well as a guided tour of the Estadio de la Cerámica.
