The defender underlined that the team is focused on the league game on Sunday after the postponement of the European tie with Qarabag
Defender Pau Torres appeared in front of the media via a remote press conference to analyse the current goings-on regarding Villarreal, after the postponement of the European tie against Qarabag, which was set to take place this Thursday, due to COVID-19: “The match has been suspended at the moment. We don’t know if we will play it later on. Due to the fixture schedule, we think it’s better not to play, as it’s irrelevant for the outcome of the group. Should it finally take place, it will help us continue playing competitive games and get minutes behind us. We’ll wait to see what UEFA decide.”
Pau underlined that the Unai Emery’s team are working with their focus on the upcoming LaLiga game against Real Betis (Sunday, 4:15pm CET): “We’re focused on LaLiga. It will be a very difficult game against a team that have a lot of quality up front and try and look for possession to attack their opponents. We know that we’re going into the match on the back of three draws in a row in LaLiga, and the team wants to return to winning ways.”
Finally, the Spain international looked at the Yellows’ season so far: “I think it’s been very positive overall. We’ve only lost one game, and that was against FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou. It’s true that we’ve let a few wins slip away at home, and we’d have liked to have won those games, but we’re ambitious and we’re continuing to work hard and trying to improve every day to stop that from happening again.”
