The new Villarreal head coach will make his first appearance on Sunday against UD Almeria (4:15pm CEST)
Villarreal CF will face UD Almería at the Estadio de la Cerámica this Sunday, with kick-off at 4:15pm CEST. The match, corresponding to Matchday 5 of LALIGA EA Sports, will be the debut of José Rojo Martín ‘Pacheta’ as head coach of Villarreal CF.
Pacheta, who was officially presented as the Submarine’s coach on Monday, will sit in the yellow dugout for the first time in a match full of attractions. He has the opportunity to get his first win, which would also be the team’s first at home this season.
Duels against UD Almería always bring back great memories for the Yellows’ fans, with matches like the one in 2012/13 in which Villarreal, in a key match for promotion, beat Almería 1-0 thanks to Jonathan Pereira’s goal that returned the Submarine to the elite of Spanish football.
Other notable duels include last season’s match at the Ciutat de València, in which the club prepared an emotional tribute to José Manuel Llaneza, who passed away a few days earlier, and to which the team gave an epic 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Álex Baena -with a subsequent tribute to the yellow vice-president- and Nico Jackson in the last play of the game.
UD Almeria arrive in Vila-real in need of three points. The team coached by Vicente Moreno is in a difficult situation after taking just one point out of a possible twelve, relegating them to the penultimate position in the standings. Three defeats against Rayo Vallecano (0-2), Real Madrid (1-3), RC Celta (2-3) and a draw against Cádiz CF (1-1) are the results achieved by them so far.
