Villarreal CF was the most award-winning football school at the gala once again

Villarreal CF was, for another year, one of the stars of the 2017 Golsmedia Awards, that celebrated its VII edition at the ‘Teatre d’Alzira’. This gala has become a celebration of football for the Valencian community. Every year, 44 of the best goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, strikers, coaches and best players in each league are rewarded (Femenino Autonómica, U19 División de Honor Group VII, Tercera División Group VI, Segunda División Group III and the four Regional Preferente groups). On behalf of Villarreal CF, as well as the nominees, ex-player Marcos Senna and member of the Institutional Relations department Tino Traver were in attendance.

Once again, the Yellows Academy took away the most awards. On this occasion, the Submarine picked up five trophies. Those prize-winners were:

Group III of the ‘Segunda División B’:

  • Best Striker: Carlos Martínez (Villarreal B).

Group VII of the U19 ‘División de Honor’:

  • Best Manager: Javi Calleja (U19 A).
  • Best Goalkeeper: Marc Vidal (U19 Roda).
  • Best Defender: Joan Salvá (U19 A).
  • Best Striker: Álex Millán (U19 A).

Despite not winning an award, other players that were nominated were Iván Martín (U19 A), Pablo Larrea (Villarreal B), Leo Suárez (Villarreal B) and Darío Poveda (Villarreal C), as well as Pere Martí (U19 Roda Manager).
