Villarreal fall against Deportivo in the LXXI edition of the Trofeo Teresa Herrera (2-0)

Villarreal lost to Deportivo in the LXXI edition of the Trofeo Teresa Herrera in a match where the Yellowsgot better but could not convert (2-0). The Submarine missed a lot of chances, but the worst news of the night was Roberto Soldado’s injury, who had to leave the field of play shortly after he came on. The goals for the home side were courtesy of Florin Andone (8th minute) and Carles Gil (90th minute).

The La Coruña side went ahead early on thanks to Florin Andone, who scored after only right minutes. The Submarine got better and better as the game went on, creating plenty of chances to get the equaliser.

The Yellows’ best chance in the first half came just before the half time whistle, but Deportivo keeper, Germán Lux, kept out the first shot and the defence cleared the second off the goal line.

In the second half Marcelino made several changes in search of the equaliser. One of the players who came on at the break was Roberto Soldado, who had to leave the field shortly after entering due to an injury to his right knee. The Villarreal number 9 will undergo medical tests on Wednesday to find out the exact extent to his injury.

In the last few minutes the Yellows completely dominated. First Samu Castillejo came close to opening the scoring for the Yellows and then Sansone on his debut, who played the whole game. But then, with Villarreal all piling forward, Deportivo got their second through Carles Gil (2-0).
