Villarreal were left deflated after a cruel game ended in a draw (1-1 ). The Yellow's dominated most of the game and were ahead after just 30 minutes with a goal from Bruno. But in the final few minutes the Andalusians earned a corner and managed to score seconds before the final whistle.
Villarreal started the game the more intense side this was clear from the first ten minutes. Nevertheless, the Andalusians did enjoy the occasional danger runs which were easily taken care of by the home side's defence. Once past the first fifteen minutes, the Marcellino's men slowly began to find their way into the match.
In 22nd minute, came the first real chance for the home side as the ball found its way to the feet of Cani who slid a smooth pass through to Uche. After being through on goal he could not miss but his effort was prevented by a vital challenge from Welligton.
Passed the half hour, the Submarine after some great teamwork eventually found the back of the net. The goal was started with a tackle from the valiant Jaume Costa who served the ball into Cani. After some excellent dribbling he fizzed the ball into Bruno who wasted no time in giving Villarreal their first goal of the match.
It was clear the second half was not going to be as comfortable. The Yellows choose to defend more than attack and trying to maintain the 1-0 lead. Villarreal needed a second and were not afraid to press the blue and white defence.
The game became a midfield battle with Malaga having the majority of possession. In the 67th, the Andalusians had their best chance when Eliseu shot from outside the area. The ball was deflected into the path of Pedro Morales who send it towards Sergio Asenjo who managed to push the ball wide.
As the game progressed the game it was clear the home side lacked the final touch to finish off Malaga. Already in control, the Yellows missed a huge opportunity to finish off the match. Cani sent a free kick towards the right corner. Giovani managed to get a head to but it was thwarted yet again by the Malaga Keeper.
When everything seemed set and done Villarreal were outdone in the last minute of the game. Through a corner ,Málaga equalised as Welligton got ahead of his marker to head the ball into the back of the net. It was clear the loss of three points left the players heart broken, but now there will be even more desire going into the next crucial match against Barcelona.
