Villarreal Women have sealed the signing of midfielder María Cienfuegos 'Cienfu', who will strengthen Sara Monforte's side ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The midfielder, who arrives from Real Oviedo, is Villarreal Women's first signing of the summer. The Yellows are looking at building a new project for next season, which will include 10 players from last season: Salma Paralluelo, Lara Mata, Sheila Guijarro, Sara Medina, María Sanjuán, Laura Royo, Cristina Díaz, Bea Prades, Yolanda Palomino and Irene Miguélez.
Cienfu, youth and versatility in the centre of the pitch
María Cienfuegos (08/04/01, Langreo, Asturias) is a versatile midfielder, who reads the game well and has a good defensive capacity. Aged 19, she has played for Real Oviedo's first team for five seasons, after coming through the academy there.
Despite her youthfulness, Cienfu has a number of achievements to her name. She won two second-tier titles with the Real Oviedo first team, as well as a regional league and a Copa Federación with their reserve side. She has also represented Spain at U16 level.
The new midfielder arrives with high hopes of a great season in Reto Iberdrola under Sara Monforte's guidance. Welcome, Cienfu!
