A round figure and one that will be tough to match. This evening Sergio Asenjo played his 200th match for Villarreal against Levante UD. This total makes him the second goalkeeper to have played the most official games for club, behind Diego López who played 230 times between the sticks for the Yellow Submarine.
After these two keepers, in third place stands Pepe Reina, who made 147 official appearances with 109 those being league fixtures, while López Vallejo played 143 official games (78 in the league) and Sebastián Viera 89 official matches (75 in the league), as fourth and fifth.
Asenjo joined Villarreal in the 2013/14 season, and has played 200 times for Villarreal. That's split between 173 in the league, 16 in the Europa League, two in the Champions League and nine in the Copa del Rey.
