Villarreal CF has unveiled, on the Estadio de la Cerámica pitch, its team to take part in the eLaLiga Santander competition. This tournament is the official FIFA 20 Spanish competition, offered thanks to the partnership between LaLiga and Electronic Arts (EA). After the success of previous editions, it returns for a third consecutive year with more emotion, more spectacle, and more entertainment.
The Submarine, through Magma Esports (a sporting project for computer games that works on player development and professionalisation), used players on loan from QLASH Spain to take part in the competition. Therefore, the Yellow team will be represented by Rafael Riobó and Óscar Martín as players and by Rubén Ripoll as coach and team manager. Riobó, better known as Ralfitita, is one of the best FIFA players nationwide. In addition, he works as a firefighter, which he shares his passion for alongside video games. In December 2019 he was crowned champion of the FIFA Dragon Circuit of ION Esports, here's how it went for Riobó: “I look quite strong this year, in December I was champion of the famous tournament and now I have to maintain this level during the championship. The problem is that there are very good players and most of the matches are decided by details or misses.”
Beside him will be Óscar Martín, also known by the name Klose, who is another of the FIFA’s best players nationwide and will represent Villarreal CF in the eLaLiga Santander tournament. Martín, who has won major tournaments and honours at international events such as FIFA Interactive World Cup in which you face the best around the world, with Ribió will form one of the best duos in the tournament. In his day-to-day life he works in the military, which he combines with the hours that he devotes to improving his FIFA game. Martín has made it clear that his objective is no other but to take home the championship: “If I don’t get a good result for me it would be a failure. So I am going to give everything together with my partner Rafa and I am sure that we will achieve great success together."
The reins of the team will be carried by Rubén Ripoll, also known as Kensuke when he was a player, who will act as a coach to the Yellow team. Ripoll has great experience in the world of FIFA and in recent years he has established himself as a benchmark on the national scene. His knowledge and skills behind the screen make him the perfect coach to guide the Villarreal CF team. Ripoll himself has spoken about it: “My role is based on trying to correct mistakes, give my advice on aspects that should be improved and also provide moral support."
From January to May 2020, eLaLiga Santander will test the professional players of Spain, but also the applicants. At stake, a prize pool of €100,000 euros and a succulent number of FIFA Global Series Points for the professional circuit. The grand face-to-face final of the official EA SPORTS™ FIFA 20 Global Series in Spain will be on 9th May in Madrid, a spectacular event in which the finalist clubs will face each other to fight for the last classification points and become the champion of this third season.
