Harsh punishment for Villarreal B

The Mini Submarine lost to Lleida Esportiu in a tight match that was decided by the visitors' finishing (1-3)

Villarreal B left their match with Lleida Esportiu empty-handed. The Mini Submarine faced one of the most potent teams in the league and there was not much between the two sides. The visitors' better finishing saw the game end 1-3.

The match started to go wrong for the home side with seven minutes gone. Carlos Blanco fouled Alpha in the box, with Marc stepping up to score from the spot (0-1).

The Yellows equalised with half an hour on the clock, also from the penalty spot. The referee signalled that Simic had handled the ball in the box, with Simón Moreno scoring the resulting penalty (1-1).

The Catalan side responded in the 40th minute. Eder got on the end of a Liberto cross from the left (1-2).

Villarreal B could have equalised before the break with two good chances. First was a right-footed effort from Simón which went just wide, while Edu Espiau headed a Diego Collado cross at goal, but was denied by a great save from Pau. The rebound fell to Espiau, but Lleida Esportiu's goalkeeper saved again, and was the hero of the moment.

The decisive goal to make it 1-3 came in the second half. Liberto escaped down the left and his low cross was finished by Eder (m.62). Villarreal B tried with all they had but could not get a goal back.

Next up for the Yellows is a trip to CD Castellón at Castalia (Sunday, 6pm CEST).
