Villarreal CF and SCC Napoli have reached an agreement for the transfer of Raúl Albiol, who will play in the Yellow Submarine for the next three seasons. The Valencian centre-back, 33, will be officially presented in the upcoming days, and will carry out pre-season medical tests this weekend, before starting training on Monday alongside his team-mates.
Raúl Albiol Tortajada (Vilamarxant, 04/09/1985) is an experienced centre-back who has played 52 times with the Spain national side, winning a World Cup and two European Championships. He started his footballing career at Ribarroja before signing for the Valencia academy. He made his debut for Los Che's first team, before being loaned to Getafe for the 2004/05 season. He returned to Valencia, a team where he shone until signing for Real Madrid in 2009/10. He was with Los Blancos for four seasons, before signing for Napoli. He has been with the Italian side until joining Villarreal, playing 235 official matches, scoring six goals and registering 11 assists.
Throughout his professional career, Albiol has played 545 matches, with four teams (Valencia, Getafe, Real Madrid and Napoli), scoring 15 goles and registering 13 assists.
He has also won a World Cup and two European Championships with Spain, a LaLiga title with Real Madrid, two Copas del Rey with Valencia and Real Madrid, a Spanish Super Cup with Real Madrid, a Europa League with Valencia, a Coppa Italia with Napoli and an Italian Super Cup, also with Napoli.
