Historical! Villarreal U19s (Juvenil A) qualified for the Copa del Rey final for the first time in history after drawing against Real Madrid in a fascinating game (2-2). The Yellows went into the match 1-0 up on aggregate from the first leg, but they had to fight until the end to get to the next round.
Real Madrid went 2-0 up, but in a magnificent second half, Villarreal U19s brought the game level on the day, thanks to goals from Fer Niño and Gonzaga. Next up in the final will be Atlético Madrid, who beat Levante in the other semi-final. The match will take place on Saturday 29th June at 8pm at the Antonio Peroles Municipal Stadium in Roquetas de Mar, Almería.
The first goal of the game arrived early on. Filip fouled Marvin in the box, with Baeza scoring from the spot (1-0). The tie was level on aggregate. The Whites restricted the Yellows in the first half, and their second goal arrived in the 26th minute. Left-back Miguel Gutiérrez played a spectacular shot from the edge of the box that flew into the back of the net (2-0).
Miguel Ángel Tena was not happy with how the game was going, with the U19s coach making two changes before half-time, with John and José Blanco coming on. The team was substantially better in the second half.
The goal to make it 2-1 came from Niño in the 69th minute. John robbed the ball, allowing the striker to shoot from the edge of the box. The ball went in off Altube's left post. This goal saw the Yellows heading through on away goals.
In the 88th minute, Real Madrid were left with ten men after a heavy challenge by Antonio Blanco. In extra time, the Yellows drew the match on the night and killed off the tie, with a counter-attack which ended with Gonzaga firing home a José Blanco cross (2-2). Crazy!
