Villarreal centre-back Álvaro Gonzalez says that the Yellow Submarine are desperate to return to competitive action: “After this start to the league, where I think we haven’t got the points we deserve from how we’ve played, this break for a fortnight feels like it’s gone on forever. We want Sunday to be here already to show we have a good enough team to turn things around.”
The Yellows No.3 analysed the first three games of the season and explained that it was important to keep calm: “In the games we’ve played, especially those at home, we’ve had more chances to score, and the goals we let in were down to silly mistakes. We play with a style that players like playing so our objective now is to minimise these areas and see if we are able to move up the table.”
With regards to the match against CD Leganés, Álvaro explained that they will be a tough opponent because of their playing style: “We know they’re a very compact team that runs a lot and has a lot of intensity. They will also make it a really quick game. However, we have to trust in ourselves and hope that on Sunday we can get our first victory for the season and that can serve as a turning point ahead of the intense month that we’ve got coming up.”
