A last effort. In today’s press conference, Villarreal CF centre midfielder, Manu Trigueros, analysed the Submarine’s current form. Javi Calleja’s side will finish off 2017 with an exciting derby against Valencia CF at the Mestalla stadium (Saturday, 4:15pm CET). “The other day we won in Vigo and the week is different when you’ve won. We’re all really excited. We’re going to the Mestalla full of motivation, but we know they’re a very difficult opponent”, Trigueros commented.
The number 14 is the second Yellows player to have racked up the most minutes on the pitch this season with 1,738 (1,281 in LaLiga, 442 in the UEFA Europa League and 15 in the Copa del Rey). Despite having played so many minutes, Trigueros assured that the team’s motivation for the derby is maximum and it shouldn’t be noticed that he has played so many matches: “It’s the last game of the year and we have to make an effort so we can go away on our holidays with a win under our belts”.
The player to have played the most minutes this season is Rodrigo Hernández (1,802 minutes) and after Trigueros is Pablo Fornals (1,732 minutes). What's more, the centre midfielder has scored two goals and has three assists so far this campaign. A real engine for the Yellow Submarine.
