Derbies are always special. The Villarreal CF captain, Bruno Soriano, was optimistic ahead of this Saturday’s match against Valencia CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica (8:45pm CET). "It’s a derby, a special match and we hope the fans fill the stadium. It’s key for there to be a great atmosphere so as players we can play to our best. We will try to play well to get the three points", he commented.
For the centre midfielder from Artana, the fact that Valencia are currently in 17th place will not effect how the match goes at all: "We expect a tough opponent. Valencia have great players and they will want to show that they are on a good run after their last win at home. We have to make the point we picked up in La Coruña count. We’ve got two very important matches ahead of us at home".
According to the Yellow number 21, the clash will be very even: "It will definitely be a tough match. I would sign right now for the result to be the same as last year, when I scored the game winning goal. At home we’re really strong and we have to take advantage of that. It’s a crucial game for us to make sure we stay up in the top part of the table. If we win on Saturday everything will be different. We want to get our first win in 2017 and what better way to do it than against Valencia".
Villarreal are the team to have conceded the fewest goals in the LaLiga Santander, having let in only 12 goals in 18 matches. A statistic they want to maintain. "We’re playing well in defence by not letting in many goals and that will aslo keep us towards the top of the table. For us it’s key not to concede. We want to keep going like this until the end of the season. It gives us a lot of confidence, although we’d like to score more goals".
