Unai Emery and Francis Coquelin underlined their ambition but expect at tough tie against Sivasspor (Thursday, 6:55pm CET)

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery and footballer Francis Coquelin have appeared in front of the press via a remote press conference to analyse the upcoming UEFA Europa League game with Sivasspor (Thursday, 6:55pm CET).

The Basque head coach underlined that it will be a tough game with an opponent who is running out of chances to qualify: “Sivasspor are playing for their life in this competition. It’s a decisive match that could be dangerous for us. We want to continue doing what we’re doing. Continue going for a combination between young footballers who are getting experience and older players to help them along the way.”

Emery underlined that being effective with the ball and being solid in defence are what the Yellows need to do to overcome the Turkish side: “We want to compete, to have control and be effective. We want to be ourselves and impose our game plan. They will have their chances and we need to be capable of not giving them many chances.”

Coquelin: “We want to win and qualify”

Villarreal’s French midfielder Conquelin believes it will be a tough game against Sivasspor: “It’s a very tough competition, where every game is complicated, but this one especially. Sivasspor are a team that, despite our win, scored three times against us at home. We want to be prudent and go for the win to qualify. To do that we need to defend well, making the most of the chances we have to score.”
