Villarreal Women draw against Sporting Huelva in their Primera Iberdrola debut
A decent debut for Villarreal Women in the Liga Iberdrola. Sara Monforte’s side got a point against Sporting de Huelva in their visit to La Orden (0-0).
The Yellows played impressively and showed that they will fight for the points everywhere they go in their first season in the top flight. The Submarine had a good first half, and could have gone ahead on three separate occasions. Vera Rico, Tere Morató and Sheila Guijarro all had the chance to open the scoring before half-time.
In the second half, Sporting Huelva stepped forward, but the Yellows knew how to dig in when the home team were on top. Monforte’s substitutions gave the away side wings, and they went close to scoring in the last minute. Sara Medina’s effort after a great piece of play by Raquel Pinel came so close to being worth three points.
Villarreal Women ended the game with a good point away from home in their top-flight debut.
