Miguel Álvarez: “Winning would give us an important boost”

The Mini Submarine needs the support of the fans against Andorra (Sunday, 6:30pm CET)

Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, appeared at the press conference ahead of the match against FC Andorra, corresponding to Matchday 16 of LALIGA Hypermotion, which will be held this Sunday at 6:30pm CET at the Estadio de la Cerámica, and in which the B team need the support of all the Yellows.

Here is what he had to say:

The state of the team

“The boys are working with a tremendous capacity and, when there are good results, it is easier to work.”

Andorra

“A match like the last few, very hard-fought. Each with their own weapons. It’s a very attractive and beautiful match to watch. It’s a team that dominates the ball, that dominates the positional attack very well. They are the team that works best in associative play, which means defending a lot and working hard without the ball. We are preparing to get closer to winning.”

Different dynamics

“The dynamics are the same for all the teams, because it is a very difficult division. For example, Tenerife were leaders for a long time and have now gone five games without a win. Andorra, despite the dynamic, have come close to winning several games. Statistically, they are the team that scores the most away goals, even if they don’t score that many. We both have 16 points and it’s going to be very close. It’s an important match on Matchday 16, and winning it would give either team a big boost.”

Improvements

“The whole defence is new. We believe in the work and the important thing is the players. We have to make them better along the way. Also, there is more difficulty because they are young players who are playing against proven players. In the last game, for example, there is a detail in which there is a moment in which the players are celebrating a defensive action and that is also the beauty of it. They have to enjoy the moments without the ball as well and we are working on that. We will be competitive along the way.”
