The B team head coach underlined that the team who is able to exploit their opponent’s weaknesses will win (Friday, 8:30pm CEST)
Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, spoke to the media on Thursday to analyse the match against Sevilla Atlético (Friday, 8:30pm CEST).
“It’s a week with international matches and that’s always a bit unusual. There are a lot of internationals in the first team. That means that Villarreal B players are called up to train with them during the week, that’s what they’re there for. We face the game knowing that we won’t be able to count on everyone. Marcelino has a lot of empathy with us and he’s only taking the players he needs. Even so, we know that there are unavoidable absentees,” acknowledged the coach from Jaen.
Miguel Álvarez stressed that the team wants to win: “We are evolving as a team. We want to win the game. We do a lot of things well as a team, but we need to improve certain aspects to be able to win games, but that are condemning us to draw them. There are a lot of new guys, with whom we are growing. We have to continue in the same line of work. We’d like to stop drawing and for that we have to keep working.”
Sevilla Atlético will be the third B team that the Mini Submarine face: “They’re a great team, with players of great quality. You only have to look at their numbers. They’ve scored 15 goals and conceded ten. The other day they went down to nine players against Marbella and conceded four, but that’s unusual. They are a team with a lot of quality. Home advantage is always the important thing. Whoever knows how to punish the opposition the most, show their strengths and exploit their opponents‘ weaknesses will be closer to winning the game.”
