Villarreal B will face SD Amorebieta, a direct opponent (Sunday, 12pm CEST)
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared in front of the media ahead of the match against SD Amorebieta, which will take place this Sunday at 2pm CEST. They’re direct opponents in the battle for survival.
Here is what he had to say
Carlo Adriano’s injury
“It’s a difficult week because this year, unfortunately, there are guys who have had bad luck like Carlo, Alberto or Hugo. This year we have had a lot of very serious injuries and it makes you sad because next year was very important for Carlo, but we have already spoken to him. He has to make the most of his time and he is lucky that it happened to him at Villarreal. It’s no use moaning. There is a lot of work to do. One of the things that takes you to professional football is your head.”
Amorebieta
“They are a team that are right there with us and it’s a more complicated game than last week’s. We were looking forward to the Levante game so that we could have continuity in terms of results and not have to go away needing so much. In football and in life you have to pick yourself up. I no longer look back. I focus on the present, which is Amorebieta. At home they are doing very well, they beat Sporting and Ferrol. They are undoubtedly a team like us, they have home advantage and will be a difficult opponent.”
A duel of coaches from the Yellows Academy
“I also know Jandro and all the players very well, but neither he nor I played. He is a person I appreciate very much from when he was here, very simple and humble. We are very fond of him here, we have spent many days together in joy and suffering. I’m glad he’s in this category. He is a friend, but on Sunday he will be an adversary. From 4 o’clock onwards he will no longer be an adversary.”
Strong mentality
“If you come from Sporting’s ground and you stick your chest out and give the lads the wrong message…. But that’s not the case, here we work the same in victory and defeat. On Monday they were still in mourning and on Tuesday they rested. They were bad, but on Wednesday they came here with the idea of analysing their opponents, starting to work and planning the match. We have worked very well as always, knowing that we have another difficult opponent, but with the ability to know that we are capable of going away and winning. We won at Tenerife and Sporting. The most important thing is not to lose our way and to get to the last home game alive.”
