The coach from Jaén has given four U19s their second-division debuts during the current 2023/24 season
Villarreal B’s adventure in the Second Division has left great experiences for the young talents of the Yellows Academy. Many of the Submarine’s academy players have had the opportunity to make their debuts in professional football during the two seasons that the Mini Submarine have played in the second division.
This year, despite not having been able to achieve survival, Miguel Álvarez has given some of the most promising youngsters in the youth ranks a chance to make their debuts. This season, the Andalusian head coach has given debuts to four players at youth level: Víctor Moreno, Pau Navarro, Pau Cabanes and Gerard Hernández.
The young attacker from Granada made his debut as a goalscorer in the Second Division, scoring the winner in the last match against Real Racing Club (1-0). He has been part of the Villarreal B dynamic and only injuries have prevented him from playing more than nine games this season.
Another of Villarreal B’s big breakthroughs this season has been Pau Navarro. The young talent from the province of Castellón has established himself in Miguel Álvarez’s starting eleven during the end of the campaign, playing 12 games and scoring one goal.
In the last few games, Pau Cabanes and Gerard Hernández have been able to make their debuts and enjoy minutes in LALIGA Hypermotion.
Looking to the future
These youth players, like some of their younger teammates, are set to be important players from next season onwards in the Primera RFEF. Miguel Álvarez will remain the Mini Submarine’s commander, who since his arrival has promoted several world-class talents to the first team such as Pau Torres, Samu Chukwueze, Nico Jackson, Filip Jorgensen, Álex Baena and Yeremy Pino. With the coach from Jaen, the younger players are looking to the bench with optimism. The future is guaranteed.
