The coach has underlined the importance of getting a positive result against FC Andorra (Saturday, 4:15pm CET)
Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, appeared before the media this Thursday to analyse the match against FC Andorra, corresponding to Matchday 27 of the 2023/24 LALIGA Hypermotion season, which will be held at the Estadi Nacional (Saturday, 4:15pm CET).
He underlined the importance of the match, as it is a duel against a direct rival: “It’s a match that is about more than just three points, because the head-to-head record is at stake and that could play an important role at the end of the season.”
On the same line, Miguel Álvarez pointed out the attraction of the game against the Andorran side: “They are a team that is now in our league, not because they are better or worse, but because we are in a similar position in the standings. A draw or a win would mean more than a point or three points. It’s a very interesting match for Matchday 27 and that’s how we’re going to face it.”
The Mini Submarine’s head coach predicts an evenly-matched and very competitive game: “Both teams know each other perfectly well, because we’ve played against each other many times. It’s going to be a very competitive match in which each team will try to win the game with their own weapons.”
Villarreal B will face the game with many absentees, as Miguel Álvarez acknowledges: “We’re fine physically, but we have a lot of absentees, with Carlos Romero and Ontiveros, who is suspended, joining them. Jorge Pascual and Diego Collado will be available.”
Finally, Miguel Álvarez reviewed Álex Forés’ personal moment and his idyll with the goal this season: “Why shouldn’t he be able to play in the top flight? Scoring 11 goals without taking a penalty is very commendable. He still has a lot of room for improvement. One good thing about him is that, even if he is not involved in the game, he still creates a lot of danger. He’s one of the best players I’ve ever come across in terms of his ability to break the deadlock. He still has to improve on a footballing level, because today’s football has to have associative strikers, who can get out of the way. In two stages he has had physical problems, but he plays with discomfort, because he has a great sense of belonging.”
