The B team head coach underlined that the team is competing well, but needs to improve from set pieces to win more
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared before the media this Friday to discuss the match against CD Alcoyano, corresponding to Matchday 24 of the 2024/25 Primera RFEF season, which will kick off this Sunday at 5:30pm at the Mini Estadi of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
“We are in good spirits and working as we should. We are working on improving what is penalising us for not getting the wins,” said the coach after a somewhat irregular start to 2025 in which the Mini Submarine have yet to pick up a win.
“We are not worried. We are focused on improving our set pieces, defending with the ball and managing the last few minutes, in which we are not as accurate as we would like to be. We are currently struggling with a poor run of form, which has penalised us in terms of points,” admitted Miguel Álvarez ahead of the game against CD Alcoyano.
The Villarreal B coach has highlighted the opposition’s history in this division: “They’re a classic side in the Primera RFEF. They have players who understand very well what this league requires. To win, we have to play to our strengths and minimise their virtues. The key is to get back to being as strong as we have always been at the Mini Estadi. We want it to be a fortress again.”
Finally, Miguel Álvarez underlined the team’s competitive capacity, despite not being able to get the wins: “We have to be brave and not be penalised by doubts or fear. We are calm, because we can see that the sensations are good. No other reserve team competes away from home as well as we do. We just have to keep working to improve a little more.”
