Villarreal B host Huesca on Sunday at 4:15pm CET
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared at the press conference ahead of the vital game against SD Huesca, a direct rival in the table, so this Sunday’s clash at 4:15pm CET at La Cerámica takes on extra importance.
Here is what he had to say:
Returning home
“It’s been many days since the Oviedo match. We are looking forward to playing at home. The sensations of the last home games were very good and we want to give continuity to that.”
Good feelings
“The first half wasn’t bad, but we made it easy. Then there is a very positive reading of such a young team putting a big team on the ropes. But we come back with no points. Away it takes us forever. We have to find the balance of competing in games from the first to the 95th minute.”
Casualties
“In principle, I understand that everyone will come with me except Iker, who stays with the first team, and we have injuries to Hugo Pérez, Ortega and Víctor. Ortega was cleared to play, but the other day he had some discomfort and had to stop.”
The opposition
“Since the new head coach has been in charge, defensively they are a very strong team, conceding very few goals. In thirteen games they have only conceded 10 goals and only six in dynamic play. It’s difficult to beat them. There is a home advantage that we have to exploit. We have to be very consistent throughout the game. They are a direct rival. The games are no longer about three points. We drew 2-2 there and this match is a four-pointer. We have to start looking at the goal average, which can penalise you later on. The lads know what this game is all about.”
Everyone to La Cerámica
“The day of Andorra there were a lot of people and we were very happy. There have been many years of prosperity here in which everything has gone very well in sporting terms. We enjoy a lot with the boys and we have reached a category that has to be given the importance it deserves. When we play at home, very few people come, although they are loyal and help us a lot. We are in the second division and the boys will be in professional football sooner rather than later. We need them because our opponents have a lot of potential. Any support is something. I would like a lot of people to come at 4:15pm CET on Sunday. Football belongs to the fans. They make the boys fly.”
