The B team head coach talks about the importance of getting a positive result against CD Mirandés (Saturday, 6.30pm CET)

Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared at the press conference ahead of the match against CD Mirandés, corresponding to Gameweek 27 of the 2022/23 LaLiga SmartBank season, which will take place at the Estadio Municipal de Anduva this Saturday at 6:30pm. These are the key statements he made:

Two very evenly matched teams

“The team is in good shape physically. We have worked very well. I expect a very competitive game between two teams that are very evenly matched in terms of goals. Mirandés are almost a B team because of the number of young players they have. They are playing at home which is an important factor. I’m expecting a very even and very difficult game because they, after not having good results in the first few games, changed their distribution on the pitch and have put in some brutal performances.”

Same objectives

“They are one of the opponents who are going to be in there fighting with us. It’s a game worth four points because of the head-to-head. It’s a very important game because we could be seven points or one point behind. They’re a strong team at home and difficult to beat.”

Mood

“Football is a big lie that is very well told. It’s very important to win, but you have to understand that form is also important. The other day we did some very interesting things and had chances to score, but we have to take care of the moments without the ball that penalise us so much. We played two very good games at La Cerámica. We’re very satisfied with the work of the lads. We know that as a B team in the second division, we are going to lose more than win. We’re playing against teams like Granada who have a lot of potential.”

The importance of winning in Miranda de Ebro

“We’re going to try, but there is always uncertainty in football. Hardly any team is capable of winning away in this league. Every game is a different story and any detail changes whether you win or lose. What we do try to instil is that they play the same away as they do at home”.

Concentration without the ball

“One of the important things is to take care of the moment without the ball. We’ve scored a lot of goals, but we’ve also conceded a lot of goals. It bothers me a lot to concede because we can’t play our football as calmly as we should. When you’re losing, you’re too hasty in your decision making. When we don’t concede silly goals we are a very dangerous team.”
