The Yellows legend attended the 2021 MARCA awards on behalf of the Yellows’ goalscorer
Villarreal CF has been recognised at the 2021 MARCA Awards. Gerard Moreno won the Zarra Trophy after being the top Spanish goalscorer, after scoring 23 goals in the last LaLiga saeosn. Marcos Senna, member of the club’s Institutional Relations department, attended the event celebrating Spanish football and collected the prestigious award on behalf of the Yellows striker.
Gerard, a legendary goalscorer
This Monday, Gerard Moreno received the 2020/21 Zarra Trophy, the second consecutive time the striker won the trophy for being top Spanish scorer in the top flight, after also having earned the award in the 2019/20 season. The Spain international scored a total of 23 goals in the LaLiga season, the most he has ever scored in a domestic division. The previous season, he scored 18.
In an impressive season, he lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy, and played for Spain at Euro 2020. On a personal level, he scored a total of 30 goals, which put him among the Ballon d’Or candidates and also saw him win the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League Best Player award. He also became the top Villarreal CF scorer of all time this year.
