The Villarreal CF head coach analyses the Yellow Submarine’s upcoming clash against Rayo Vallecano (Sunday, 7pm)
Villarreal CF head coach Marcelino García Toral spoke to the media this Friday to analyse the build-up to the Yellows’ next match, as they travel to face Rayo Vallecano this Sunday at 7pm at the Estadio de Vallecas.
The Asturian coach assured that the team’s ambition to secure third place in LALIGA remains intact despite already having achieved their European objective: “It is something exciting and we are there. Whether you like it or not, it also has an impact that we have achieved the objective several matchdays in advance, but our ambition is to be as demanding as possible with our performance.”
Regarding the opposition, Marcelino warned of the difficulty of playing at Vallecas: “We are going to a very difficult ground, where they have lost very few matches and conceded very few goals. You have to be at your best there to win. They are also the third team with the fewest goals conceded at home.”
Finally, the Yellow head coach explained the type of match he expects: “Matches there have a very quick end-to-end nature. There can be many minutes without chances and suddenly, in five minutes, a lot can happen. Rayo’s style of play leads to open matches where everything happens much faster. Decision-making also has to be quicker.”
