The Villarreal head coach congratulated his players on their hard work in a match where a draw was a fair result
Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, appeared before the media to analyze the deserved draw against Atlético de Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano (1-1): “A draw here is always a great result. Given Atletico Madrid’s performances at their ground, we leave here happy. We could have scored more goals when it was 0-1, but they also had chances in the second half. The draw is fair, although with a bit of luck we could have won the game. We are proud of our players.”
The Yellows’ head coach was satisfied with the defensive record in recent matches: “I am satisfied because we needed to concede fewer goals and we are achieving it. We have shown a great competitive level against a very good team. The players have been supportive and brave. From the first to the last minute, we went for the win.”
Likewise, Marcelino praised Villarreal’s offensive capacity against such a tough opponent as Atlético: “We generated chances. Our xG was higher than theirs. I am very proud of the match we played in every way. Atlético de Madrid is a team that concedes very little and we were able to generate danger.”
