Villarreal offers the service for Yellows Academy players who have difficulties in travelling to the training ground
One of the difficulties that families have is to combine their personal and working lives with taking their children to training. In order to overcome this type of difficulty, Villarreal is offering a transport service for those players from the academy who find it difficult to travel to the Miralcamp Training Ground.
Vicent Ferrer, Alevín C coach, is one of the coaches in charge of supervising these buses. After arriving in the 2017/18 season, this is his fifth season at the yellow club. Ferrer says that when he arrived, the assistance offered by Villarreal was used by around 15 children and there was only one trip. This season, 60 children are using the bus service. In addition, there are two trips by the buses to cover the two afternoon training schedules of the Yellows Academy teams.
“At the start of the season, we contact and collect all the necessary information about the families and players who are going to use the bus, which teams they belong to, on which days they train, and a schedule of the days they are going to use the bus service,” says Ferrer about the preparations the club makes to offer the service.
“A daily plan is passed on to the group with the information that was given to us at the time and the families only tell us any changes to the plan,” says Ferrer. “This allows us to have a high level of control of the players who travel in each shift,” adds the coach.
Ferrer assures that the children make an extra effort to be part of the academy: “They live further away and spend more time travelling from home to the sports city.” “They make up for it with the excitement and the desire to play in the Villarreal CF shirt,” added Ferrer.
Positive feedback from families
After so many years supervising the bus service, Ferrer assures that the feedback is very good: “The parents value the service very positively, mainly, they see that the children are at all times supervised and well cared for.”
Ferrer states that this service makes life much easier for families, due to the time it saves them: “Many parents tell us that without the service it would be impossible for them to manage their personal lives, their other children and at the same time bring their child to train and play in Vila-real.”
