Manu Trigueros’ legendary status continues to grow. The midfielder has now reached 364 games as a Yellow, and has become the player with the third-most appearances for the club to his name, overcoming former captain Marcos Senna.
The Yellows’ No.14 has played 249 games in LaLiga, 48 in the UEFA Europa League, 36 in Segunda División, 29 in the Copa del Rey and two in the UEFA Champions League. In his 364 appearances, he has scored 25 goals and 31 assists.
The midfielder arrived at Villarreal CF in 2010 aged 19, and played for the C and then the B team before making a space for himself in the first team, debuting in the 2012/13 season, playing his first minutes for them on 17th August 2012 in the first matchday of the season against Real Madrid Castilla (2-1).
In his beginnings with the first team, he played on the right wing. However, Trigueros found his perfect spot in the middle of the pitch, accompanied by another Villarreal legend, Bruno Soriano.
In his nearly 11 years with the first team, he has not only played alongside the footballer from Artana, but he has also shared the middle of the pitch with legends such as Marcos Senna, Rubén Gracia ‘Cani’ and Santi Cazorla.
