Goals from Parejo and Jackson give the Submarine all three points against Real Sociedad
An important three points! Villarreal managed to beat Real Sociedad (0-2) at home against a direct rival in the fight for Europe thanks to goals from Parejo, from a penalty, and Nico Jackson, in the second half.
The first chance came early on when Baena pulled a spectacular through ball out of his sleeve for Morales to get on the end of a first-time shot. The ball went just wide of the post, with the striker unable to convert the first goal of the game. On the quarter of an hour mark, the No.16 received a cross from the left by Alfonso Pedraza, but a Real Sociedad defender deflected the ball wide and the player was unable to get on the end of it.
Shortly afterwards, Baena, who continued with his particular display, laid the ball off for Yeremy, who smashed his shot against the post. Baena was not the only one giving a recital in the match. Samu Chukwueze tried his luck with his classic feint from the right and left-footed shot, but Remiro saved his effort.
In the second half, the Basque side reacted and had a couple of good chances before the hour mark, at which point Quique Setién brought on Lo Celso and Nico Jackson. The Argentinian became the master of the attacking transitions.
Villarreal were back in the driving seat and as Chukwueze carouseled between four defenders and was brought down in the box by the last one, Gil Manzano pointed to the spot. Parejo converted the spot-kick to put the Submarine ahead. Moments later, Jackson, in a fine individual move after receiving a pass from Yeremy, made space in the box and scored the second goal of the afternoon at La Cerámica to round off a perfect afternoon.
The Senegalese was sent off for a second yellow card in the final stretch, but the score remained unchanged and Villarreal completed a perfect afternoon at home.
