The Valencian player joins Villarreal from Alhama CF
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Lena Pérez to sign for the club from Alhama CF El Pozo. The central defender will defend the colours of the Yellow Submarine next season in Primera RFEF, the second tier of Spanish women’s football.
Four seasons in the second division
Lena Pérez Sánchez (27/12/1995, Chiva, Valencia) played for Levante B for seven seasons, gaining experience in the second division in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons. She then made three first-team appearances for Las Granotas in Liga F, starting once.
After her spell at UD Levante, she signed for Alhama CF El Pozo, where two of the three seasons she spent there were in the second tier. In the 2021/22 season, she played 34 times and scored six goals – three of those in four matches in the Copa de la Reina – and played a key role in the Murcian side’s promotion to Liga F.
In the 2022/23 season, she made 27 league appearances in the top flight of Spanish women’s football and six in the Copa del Rey, as her side reached the semi-finals. Last season, with the team back in the second division, she was once again a vital player for her team on the pitch, playing 26 league fixtures and a further two in the promotion play-offs.
