The 22-year-old footballer joins the Yellows from Real Oviedo
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Laura Riquelme to sign for the club from Real Oviedo, in a move that strengthens the team’s options at left-back.
A full-back with goalscoring prowess
Laura Riquelme Jouanin (13/11/2001, Viella, Lleida) rose through the ranks in the youth system at Toulouse, before making her first-team debut for the French club. The footballer, who is a dual citizen of France and Spain, continued her development in French football as she made the move to Rodez in the 2020/21 season. That season, she played a key role in her side’s promotion as champions from the French second division to the top flight of French women’s football.
After three seasons at the club, the young left-back returned to her country of birth, signing for Real Oviedo. In the 2022/23 season, despite being a full-back, she scored three goals in 26 appearances in Primera RFEF, which is the division that she will play in next season for Villarreal Women. Last season, she made 21 appearances in Segunda RFEF, and found the back of the net twice.
