The Yellows defender highlights how solid the team is and their ability to adapt against Angers SCO
Villarreal defender, Jaume Costa, spoke to Villarreal CF TV after the Yellows’ fifth preseason friendly against Angers SCO (0-0). “Not all games can be played in the same way. In this match, the pitch was not in the best condition and they were playing very direct football. We’ve tried different formations, but always with the aim of keeping possession of the ball, creating chances and pressuring the opposition intensely when we lose the ball”, Costa explained.
The Yellow number 11 added that versatility is one of the main virtues of this Villarreal squad: “We’re a very versatile team, with players that can play in different positions and that gives us lots of options. This is the first friendly that we’ve managed to keep a clean sheet in and this is very positive as we approach the start of the league campaign”.
What’s more, Costa asserted that the Submarine are working as hard as they can to be in their best shape for the first match of the domestic competition. “We’re working hard. The new players are adapting very well and the rest of us are trying to make sure we are ready physically. An exceptionally good group is being formed. Now there are just a few friendlies left to finish the fine-tuning and then we’ll kick off the league in our best shape”.
