Jaume Costa has bid Villarreal and Yellows fans a fond farewell after ten seasons at the club
Jaume Costa participated in a virtual press conference to say goodbye to the club. The Valencian full-back wanted to send a message to Villarreal fans: “I would like to thank everyone that has experienced this with me. In the good and the bad times they have been there. I also want to thank the club and all the employees that make our day to day life easier. Wherever I am, I will always be a Villarreal fan. I’ll always be a ‘groguet’. This is not a goodbye, it’s a see you later. I hope that our paths cross again in the future.”
The defender from Valencia recognised that the years he has spent at the club have been very special: “If I had to sum up my time at Villarreal in one word it would be spectacular. Since I arrived, I could never have dreamed of spending my entire career at a club like this. I have had many special times at Villarreal. I’m really happy that we won the Europa League title, above all for the fans and people at the club.” Jaume only had words of gratitude for the club: “Everything I have is thanks to Villarreal.”
On the other hand, Costa positively evaluated his final season at the club: “This past season I have played 25 games and in different positions, from left-back to centre midfield. I have also tried to help the young players. On a collective level, we were a great group, a great family. It’s true that we didn’t achieve our objectives in LaLiga, but we achieved even greater goals of making it to next season’s Champions League and winning a trophy.”
The Villarreal CF defender, until today, stated that he cannot choose one moment that stands out from his ten seasons at the Yellows: “The club deserved a trophy to be up there with the big teams”.
In this way, Jaume bid farewell to what was a big part of his football career at the Yellows. Villarreal CF would like to thank Jaume for his effort, commitment and job well done during this decade and wish him good luck and lots of success for the next stage of his career.
