Bruno, Trigueros and Asenjo were satisfied with the draw at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium

Villarreal captain, Bruno Soriano, spoke after the brave draw achieved at the Santiago Bernabéu sadium, briefly analysing his team’s performance. “In the first half we didn’t concede many counterattacks from Real Madrid and we had possession of the ball. I think we also could have scored another goal. This is a very important point that gives us a lot of confidence”, he said.

According to the Yellows number 21, the Submarine had character about them on the pitch: “We showed that we can compete against anyone. The Manager was right in the team talk when he said that we have to go out there to win the match, because the drawing is not good enough for us. We believed that and that’s really significant for this team”.

About his brilliantly executed penalty kick, Bruno agreed that it was a risky choice, but it paid off and that’s the most important thing: “It was something I had already decided on and luckily the risk paid off. The last one I took was stopped by Kameni and thankfully this time I scored”.

Trigueros and Asenjo, stars of the show at the Bernabéu

Manu Trigueros and Sergio Asenjo also stood out in the match against Real Madrid. The centre midfielder from Talavera was “satisfied” although said it was “a shame” that Real Madrid equalized so early in the second half. “We defended well and when we had the ball we played with a purpose. The Manager changed the system up a bit and I think it worked well for us. We’re going away with a deserved point and I think we have to be satisfied because it’s not every day that you pick up points at the Bernabéu”.

For his part, Sergio Asenjo, said he’s full of pride for getting the draw. “We’re going away with a boost”, he expressed. Furthermore, he remebered the disappointment he felt after getting knocked out of the UEFA Champions League, but stressed that the team is getting stronger and stronger. “The team has taken a while to get to the level expected of us. There were many injured players, but now we’re almost all fit and that makes us a lot more competitive. We’re going to try to make this draw count, starting with Osasuna on Sunday”, he concluded.
