The Valencian midfielder appeared in front of the press today after returning to playing in a competitive game on Sunday

Vicente Iborra appeared in front of the media this Thursday, 7th October, at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). The footballer spoke about his return to the pitch and the trust the club has given him, as well as other things related to the Submarine.

Recovering from his injury

“I’m not delighted, because I believe that I need to stay calm, but I’m very happy, as if I had made my debut again. I’m keen to continue working hard, improving and helping the team when it’s my turn to do so.”

Setbacks in pre-season

“I felt just like everyone else from the first day of pre-season, but we had the setback with COVID, and I had to stop when I had the chance of being back. When I had recovered, the competitive games had started. I’ve needed to have patience, but I know it’s a long season, and the most important thing is to be ready and respond when it’s my turn. I’m ready, and when the manager decides, I will give my best for the team.”

Role in the team

“Sincerely, it isn’t easy because everyone tries to find their own way of being important, but us players feel important on the pitch. I have had to accept my role and help in other ways. When the team wins, it doesn’t matter, because we’re all important, but when the team doesn’t win, it’s when you really find it tough because you can’t help.”

Rotations

“Generally, we’re all excited about the team and the squad. Sometimes I think it must be really hard to be the manager of this squad and decide who you play. We all have things to add. I have to wait for my chance because I’m aware of the process I’m coming from.”

Returning to playing a competitive game

“After getting minutes the other day, I’ve broken the barrier and I’ve felt the support from the fans. I want to prepare as much as possible for the game against Osasuna.”

Squad

“We feel that we have very good players, but the best thing about the squad is that everyone is committed to improving and working hard. We are the only ones who can put a ceiling on what we can achieve. The results will be seen at the end of the season. We weren’t winning, but we were consistent, and now we are seeing a regular line of growth, and that speaks a lot about the team’s ambition.”

Yeremy

“We all saw it and we were really happy and there was a healthy jealousy. We were really pleased for him when the senior squad called him up. He can still improve and he needs to carry on working hard and listening. If he continues to bring joy to the club, I’m sure he’ll get another call-up.”

Renewal

“Once more, I want to say thanks to the club for renewing my contract when I wasn’t completely recovered. I am going to return that trust with commitment. I am sure that my chance to help out will come.”

Aurier

“The club does everything it does to improve. Despite the market being closed, the club continues to work. We will welcome Aurier. We will help him to feel comfortable, because that will only help everyone.”

Osasuna

“You only have to look at the table and see where Osasuna are. Since they returned to the top flight, they’ve been doing things well, they’re a tough team to face. Winning any game is difficult, and that tells you about how level things are in LaLiga. Osasuna are are a team who are well-prepared, with experienced players, footballers with a lot of quality, and strikers who are capable of scoring.”
